History

Since 1988, Palouse Ocularium LLC has provided the Palouse Region with high quality care, good value in eyeglasses and contact lenses, and eyeglass repair services.

The Palouse Ocularium LLC is a locally-owned family business and dedicated to our local community.

The dollars that you spend with us will be returned to the local community in many ways such as through our local purchases, taxes, and donations to a variety of local groups, causes and projects. We are proud members of Buy Local Moscow.

Upon their retirement from the optical scene in 2012, we purchased ExSightment Optical from our friends, Doug and Joyce Davidson, and combined it with the Palouse Ocularium

Our office is in a custom-built craftsman-style bungalow house which was built in 1923.  The building lends itself well to providing a comfortable, home-like atmosphere to our patients.

Run as a boarding house in the 1930’s, it was home to University of Idaho students including Professor Emeritus Malcolm Renfrew.  One of his original paintings hangs in our entryway.

From the 1940’s until our purchase in 1988, this location was home the the Wilson and Shorty Rogers family who owned Rogers Ice Cream and operated a classic ice cream and soda shop on Friendship Square which is now the location of Hyperspud Sports.

From time to time we welcome visitors who once lived in or visited friends in this home and we enjoy sharing their memories and recollections.
